Obama Elementary is a district magnet in the Summit-University neighborhood. Not only are we one of the largest elementary schools, we also educate the largest African American population of any elementary school in the district.

The wooded hills, trails and wetlands of Battle Creek Regional Park provide a unique opportunity for the K-6 students of Battle Creek Environmental Magnet to learn
firsthand about Minnesota’s many natural resources.

Zoo Siab Tos Txais! We are Saint Paul’s first Hmong Studies Magnet, offering all students the unique opportunity to explore the culture, language, history, art, literature and traditions of the Hmong people through in-depth units of study and cultural guest artists.

Our school off ers a rigorous Dual Language Immersion program that prepares English dominant and Spanish-dominant speakers to be fluent in reading, writing, listening and speaking Spanish and English by the end of Grade 6. School uniforms, an emphasis on respect, and frequent positive reinforcement combine to create a lively and safe learning atmosphere.

Music is the common language of our school! All students receive violin instruction in kindergarten, first and second grade; later they can choose to play other instruments or join the choir. General music instruction includes African drumming, keyboards and guitar, and large and small groups perform regularly.
